The Ultimate Fall Guide to Sugar Land, Richmond, Katy & Cypress — Fall 2026

Fall in Greater Houston looks a little different.

We may not get dramatic changing leaves or sweater weather in September, but there’s a moment every year when you walk outside and realize: the worst of the summer heat is finally behind us.

The mornings feel better. Patios start filling up again. Evening walks get longer. Farmers markets, festivals, football games and pumpkin patches suddenly take over the weekends.

That’s what I love about fall here. It’s not necessarily about sweaters and changing leaves—it’s about getting our outdoor life back.

And after living and working in this area for many years, I’ve collected quite a few favorite places and traditions.

So I put them all together in my 2026 Fall Guide to Sugar Land, Richmond, Katy & Cypress.

🍂 What’s Happening This Fall

One of the best things about living in the Greater Houston suburbs is that each community has its own personality—and its own fall traditions.

Sugar Land comes alive with evenings at Town Square, outdoor dining, parks, trails and community events. This year's calendar includes Sugar Land Fall Fest in September, Día de los Muertos in October and the Arts & Music Fest in November.

Richmond has that small-town Texas feeling I love, especially once the weather cools down. The Fort Bend County Fair & Rodeo kicks off the season, followed by fall activities at George Ranch and the Pecan Harvest Festival in Historic Downtown Richmond.

Katy means Friday night football, busy patios and community events. From Boots & Brews to the Katy Rice Harvest Festival and the Fall Community Campout, there are plenty of reasons to get outside.

And in Cypress, fall is perfect for enjoying the trails, parks and outdoor lifestyle around communities like Bridgeland and Towne Lake.

☕ Slow Mornings & Local Favorites

Fall also makes me want to slow down a little.

Grab a coffee at BlendIn in Sugar Land, Della Coffee in Richmond, Vogs Coffee House in Katy or Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee in Cypress—and don't be in a hurry to leave.

The guide also includes some of my favorite restaurants, parks, kid-friendly activities and places I recommend when someone comes to visit.

Because knowing a community isn't just knowing the subdivisions and home prices. It's knowing where you take the kids on Saturday, where you meet a friend for coffee, where you walk after dinner and which restaurant you recommend when family comes to town.

🎃 A Few Fall Traditions You Shouldn't Miss

Friday night football, the Fort Bend County Fair, the first patio dinner after summer, a weekend at George Ranch and a trip to a local pumpkin patch are some of those simple traditions that make fall here feel like fall.

I've even included a Fall Bucket List in the guide: visit a farmers market, try a new coffee shop, take the long walk instead of the short one, buy something from a local maker, eat outside with people you like and explore a neighborhood you don't normally visit.

A little cooler weather is also the perfect time to give your home some attention.
